Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his first championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
